TASTING NOTE:The fruit for this wine came from the Ramsay and Hosie vineyards in the Cromwell basin and the Wentworth vineyard in the Gibbston Valley.
The 2006 growing season provided the perfect growing conditions for premium Chardonnay. The fruit was some of the best Chardonnay fruit out winemaker has seen.

The fruit was hand harvested between the 30th of March and 13th of April then gently whole bunch pressed. The juice was fermented in two batches. The first batch was the Cromwell juice. This juice was warm (25C) fermented to dryness in French oak barrels (35% new) before transfer to stainless steel tank. The second batch was the Wentworth juice which was warm fermented in the same barrels. The Wentworth wine stayed in barrel on yeast lees and with through partial malo-lactic fermentation. Both wines were lees stirred weekly to help with complexity and mouth feel. After approximately seven months on yeast lees in tank and in barrel the wine was blended, lightly fined and filtered and bottled.

The 2006 Peregrine Chardonnay shows ripe Chardonnay characters of perfume, stone fruit, nougat and toasty oak. The palate is full with a perfect harmony of palate weight, acidity and flavours.
