TASTING NOTE:This wine is made from fruit from Gibbston (51%) and the Cromwell basin (49%) sub-regions. The 2008 growing season was long with above average temperatures providing the perfect conditions for Chardonnay fruit with excellent varietal definition.

The fruit was hand harvested between the 27th of March and 7th of May then gently whole bunch pressed. The juice was fermented in three batches. The first batch, clone 95 was cool fermented in a stainless steel tank to retain fruit freshness. The other two batches, clones UCD6 and MVIG1 were warm fermented in a mix of 500 litre puncheons and 228 litre barriques. The barrel batches were put through malo-lactic fermentation and for the first three month the barrels were lees stirred weekly to help with complexity and mouth feel. The barrels were racked off lees and returned to barrel for a further four months. The resulting wine was blended, lightly fined, filtered and bottled.

The 2008 Peregrine Chardonnay shows ripe Chardonnay characters of stone fruit, nougat and toasty oak. The palate is full with harmony of palate weight, acidity and flavours. This wine should drink well to 2014.
